Hi Ashley. You need to focus on developing strong study and time-management skills. College and professional programs expect you to handle more independence, so learning to plan your schedule, manage deadlines, and ask for help when needed will make your transition much smoother. These habits are valuable in any career, and building them now will help you feel more confident later.

You should also take time to understand yourself, and identify your strengths, interests, and long-term goals. You don't have to have everything figured out yet, but knowing what motivates you can help guide your choices in a more meaningful way. Try exploring different classes, joining extracurricular activities, or volunteering in your community. These experiences can show you what you enjoy and help you discover the environments where you feel most comfortable and confident.

Since you're interested in a career in occupational therapy, now is a great time to learn about the field in simple, practical ways. You don't need deep technical knowledge yet, instead, you may look for opportunities to observe or volunteer in settings that serve people, such as schools, hospitals, community centers, etc. Gaining experience with different populations can help you understand whether you enjoy working closely with others and supporting their daily needs. Even part-time jobs or volunteer roles that involve teamwork, communication, or caregiving can be helpful. All the best to you.
