Good question. Some weaknesses of painters and artists in general can be that it can be hard to find steady work. For example, you might find some magazines that need artists or even some learning centers and churches. However, sometimes it could be tough to find a place looking for an artist.
Strengths of painting and artist work in general. You will find that some schools are looking for art teachers, as a matter-of-fact teaching art is probably the best career for an artist. You will also find that art contests offer prizes cash and ribbons or such which is a rewarding thing to do. Keep in mind that painting and artwork like the great Bob Ross said, "should if nothing else make you happy", even if you have to work another job on the side!
