Great question Katy! One of the highest-paid nursing specialties is Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). They administer anesthesia during surgeries and other medical procedures, and because of the responsibility and advanced training involved, they are often the highest-paid nurses, sometimes earning over $200,000 a year.
Other well-paid nursing careers include Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. These roles usually require additional education after becoming a registered nurse, but they allow nurses to diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications, and provide specialized care.
Interestingly, someone I went to high school with became a nurse anesthetist, and it’s a great example of how nursing can lead to highly skilled and rewarding careers. The field has many different paths depending on what interests you most, whether that’s surgery, primary care, or working with specific patient populations.
