Hi Quinn,

You're in a perfect position to find a flexible CNA program! Sacramento has some great schools offering evening, weekend, and hybrid schedules just for working students.

Here are your top choices, focusing on flexibility for clinical schedules:

Flexible Clinicals Explained

You can definitely work while doing clinicals if you choose the right path. Here’s how each option can fit into your work schedule:

- Weekend Clinicals: Held on Saturdays and Sundays, ideal if you work a regular Monday to Friday job.
- Evening Clinicals: Scheduled in the late afternoon or evening, perfect if you have morning or daytime duties.
- Block Scheduling: Complete all clinical hours in a set period, great if you can take a short, planned break from work.

Remember, clinical hours are fixed, but choosing evening or weekend options can help you balance a full-time job.

My Recommendation for You

Considering you need to work, here’s how to choose:

- If you have a 9-5, Monday to Friday job: Go for weekend-only or evening/weekend programs.
- If you want to save money: Contact Crestwood Behavioral Health to see if their paid training program is available.
- If you prefer maximum flexibility: Check out CAL ACE or Rapid Training Center; they offer online theory with in-person clinicals.

Questions to Ask Before You Enroll

When reaching out to these schools, ask:

- "What are the exact dates and times for the clinical portion of the next class?" This helps you know what you're committing to.
- "Is your program approved by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH)?" This is essential for state certification.
- "Do you offer payment plans, and what's the first payment due?" Most schools in Sacramento offer installments.

Good luck, Quinn! With these options, you can work and complete your CNA clinicals. Once you choose a program or find a start date that suits you, feel free to ask me about the certification exam or job placement support.

Robeson Community College in Lumberton, NC offers CNA courses all year as part of their Continuing Education program. With both day and night classes, you can find a schedule that fits your busy life. Clinical days are less flexible because of the required hours and scheduling with facilities. CNA I classes are more often in-person than CNA II classes.

I didn't work while taking CNA I classes, but after getting certified, I found a job in Home Health. This job allowed me to work while taking CNA II classes, which were mostly online.

To learn more, visit the college website or register for CNA I classes directly.

The basic 8-week course schedule is as follows: Class/Lab on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for 6 hours each day, and Clinical on Monday for 6 hours.

The total cost is $202.60, which includes registration and other fees. The book costs $120, and the background/drug test is $95. CPR certification is included in the Nurse Aide I Course and will be scheduled by the instructor.

To enroll, you need proof of English 111 or higher, or you must complete the CASAAS Reading Test. Contact Lynn Davis at 910-272-3614 for test appointments. You also need to meet a minimum grade requirement and provide immunization records, a recent TB test result, Tdap, Varicella, Hepatitis B, MMR, and an Influenza Vaccine (from September to May). A picture ID and Social Security Card are also required.
