How can I balance my college life with my personal goals effectively?
I am currently a high school student at Braintree High soon to be enrolled at UMass Amherst. I want to be able to hang out, enjoy parties on campus, as well as be able to have time to study and do homework. However, I do have personal goals I want to achieve and it requires time commitment. I would like to know how I can effectively manage and balance my college life with personal goals. #Fall25

This is a great question and you’re already ahead by thinking about it now.
The key is being intentional with your time. You can have a social life, stay on top of school, and work on personal goals... but not all at 100% every week. Try blocking time for what matters most aigned to your personal goals and be selective with social plans so you don’t feel overwhelmed.
Build simple routines early and give yourself flexibility; some weeks will be more social, others more focused, and that’s okay.
Good luck!

It is good to have a schedule - one that has room both for your study activies and personal inerests, like using the same calendar to keep track of both.
If it is not in your calendar then most likely you won't spend time on it :)
By adding your personal interest in your schedule / calendar you are prioritizing it.
Of course it can be flexible and you might need to change schedules.
I hope this helps you!
Enjoy time in college - it goes by too fast :)

Hello,
Balancing college and your personal goals comes down to prioritizing and using your time wisely. You could try to plan your week, so you have time for school, your goals, and also time to relax and have fun. You do not have to choose one or the other. If you stay focused when it is time to study, you can enjoy your free time without stress. It may take some time to figure out what works best for you, but once you find a routine, it gets easier.

The key is to find balance. Plan fun activities with friends when you're not in exam mode, and focus on studying during busy times. Discover a method or support system that lifts your spirits and recharges you quickly—exercise can be great for this! Remember to eat well, stay hydrated, and keep a regular sleep schedule. Most importantly, don't try to do everything in one day. Allow yourself time to enjoy and time to learn.

Making the most of your time is key. College offers lots of freedom, but it's important to have some structure. Treat your classes and study time as must-dos. Once those are set, you can enjoy socializing without worry.
For personal goals, take it step by step. Even a little time each week can lead to big progress. It's not about doing a lot in one day but being consistent over time. Some weeks will be busier than others, and that's fine. Balance doesn't mean being perfect.
Remember, it's okay to say no sometimes. Not every event is worth your time or energy. But don't isolate yourself either college should be fun. You can enjoy both if you stay organized, focus on what's important, and adapt as needed.
You'll find your way everyone does. Just thinking about balance now shows you're on the right path.
