what are 3 tasks a surgeon performs ?

Pediatric surgeons, like all surgeons perform similar tasks:
1) Do physical examination and history taking to help arrive at a diagnosis or to help them decide what diagnostic studies may need to be done to confirm or refine that diagnosis
2) Perform surgery (note that each type of surgeon limits the type of surgery they do to what they are competent at - a neurosurgeon does not work on the heart, etc.)
3) Supervise pre- and post-operative care - they are responsible to order the proper medications, therapies, nutrition, pain medication, etc.
Just to be sure you understand, there is a lot to each of these three categories. There is a reason that it takes many years (usually at least 6 years after medical school) to be certified and licensed to do surgery.
