How do I cope with the feeling of being far from home while also chasing the opportunity of a life time?
I am currently a High School senior preparing to leave home for college in fall of 2026. I am moving 5 states away I don't know any people in that state does anyone have any tips on how to meet people, being so far away from home?

Hi Zoe!
Moving away from home can feel scary, but it's also an exciting adventure. There are lots of ways to make college life easier and more fun!
Before you even pack, check out the clubs at your college. There's probably a club related to your major that can help you with your future career. Meeting students within your major will give you an insight into what classes to take and how to build up your resume. It will also give you the opportunity to meet individuals on a similar path as you.
You'll also find clubs for sports, crochet, books, anime, and more. Some clubs focus on religious activities or volunteer work. Find a couple that interest you and see when they meet. Joining clubs is a great way to meet people who share your interests and hobbies.
Also, don't be shy to talk to your peers. On orientation day, everyone will be new, so you're not alone. Your dorm floor will probably have mostly freshmen, so chat with your floormates. On the first day of class, talk to the students sitting next to you. You could even start a study group to help each other get great grades.
Distance might seem daunting, but don't let it stop you from choosing the right college for you. Follow the path you believe in, and everything will work out. I hope these tips help. Good luck in school!
