How do I avoid extreme burnout in college ?

I really want to succeed and make my family proud, but I want to have a comfortable balance between my molecular biology and art history major and a fun social life filled with things like attending aquariums, fun coffee shops, and gaining cool experiences! I'm scared that I will struggle to find a stable way to make both my academic career and social life count without letting one take over.

Zakari’s Answer

Hi Rachel,
The best way I avoided extreme burnout was by organizing
, avoiding procrastination, and prioritizing the most important things first before deciding on what to do. For example, if I know I have a homework assignment due on Wednesday and Its Sunday and I have other homework to complete and is due on Friday. I would try to finish that assignment by Monday so I wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore and complete the assignment that is due on Friday by Wednesday. Always complete your homework ahead of time so you can balance work, volunteering, and other activities.

It's awesome that you're already thinking about this! Remember, college is more than just studying—it's about growing, making memories, and having fun. Use a planner to stay organized, but also make sure to set aside time for things you love, like visiting aquariums, exploring cool coffee shops, and spending time with friends. Don't worry about being perfect; it's okay to take breaks and change your plans if needed. By taking care of yourself and keeping a healthy balance, you can reach your goals while enjoying all the exciting experiences college has to offer.
