Is passion alone enough to pursue a career in fashion marketing? How hard will it be for me to land a job after graduating college and what is the likelihood that I'd be successful? I love the fashion marketing classes I've taken at school but what if I regret majoring in it when I get to college?
I'm a high school senior planning on attending SCAD for fashion marketing and management in the fall. I love this field but I worry that I'll waste my dad's money on tuition if I don't become successful in the fashion industry which bring me loads of guilt.

Having something you truly love is actually quite rare—and valuable. If you genuinely feel passionate about fashion marketing, it’s worth giving it a real try. Passion won’t guarantee success, but it *will* give you the motivation to keep going when things get difficult—and every career has difficult moments.
Landing a job in this field can be competitive, so it may not be easy right away. But your chances improve a lot if you stay proactive: build relevant skills, look for internships, and pay attention to what the industry actually needs. Passion plus preparation is much stronger than passion alone.
At the same time, don’t stick to something blindly. After some time, reflect on your experience—do you still enjoy it? Are you growing? It’s important to listen to feedback from others and think critically about your path. In the end, though, the decision is yours.
As for worrying about spending your parents’ money, that just shows you care and are responsible. Let that be motivation to take your choices seriously and work hard.
You’re still young, which means you have room to explore, adjust, and even change direction if needed. Try it, learn from it, and trust yourself to figure things out along the way.
