I'm a senior in high school, and I'm applying to art schools for a major in fashion design. I just want to know what the best way to complement my minors to my major.

hey! so first heads up.. a lot of art schools don't really do minors the same way regular universities do. some have concentrations or electives instead, so def check what your specific schools offer\

but if they do have minors, here's what actually makes sense with fashion design:
1. business/entrepreneurship - this is the big one. most designers either want their own brand or need to understand the business side. super practical
2. marketing - you need to know how to sell your work and build a brand identity
3. sustainability studies - huge in fashion rn and will only get bigger. makes you way more marketable
4. textiles/fiber science - if you're serious about the craft and innovation side
5. graphic design/digital media - helpful for lookbooks, social media, web presence, all that stuff
6. art history - helps with understanding references, trends, inspiration

honestly though, don't stress too much about the "perfect" minor. pick something you're genuinely interested in because you'll do better work when you care. like if you're into photography, that's useful for fashion too

also at art schools your portfolio and internships matter wayyyy more than what minor you picked. so focus on building strong work and getting real experience

what kind of fashion design are you most into? like streetwear, haute couture, sustainable, etc? that might help narrow down what skills would actually be useful
