Vianne’s Answer

The best way to talk to a teacher about missing work is to be honest, respectful, and direct. Teachers usually appreciate when students take responsibility and communicate instead of ignoring the issue. Start by politely mentioning the missing assignments and asking what you can do to catch up. Even a simple message can show that you care and are trying.

It's also helpful to send the message sooner rather than later. Waiting too long can make the situation more stressful. Most teachers know that students can feel overwhelmed, and many are willing to help if they see you making an effort. Being polite, professional, and open to feedback can really help.

Hi Melvin!

Absolutely. Reach out early and often for help and support. Teachers always appreciate when you are upfront about what happened. Taking responsibility is huge and they will often be willing to help when you come prepared and with a plan to make it up. Coming prepared goes a long way in their eyes.

Good luck!

August’s Answer

I absolutely agree with Vianne's answer. You should reach out and be honest about what happened and take responsibility for missing deadlines. Then, ask what if anything you can do to make up the work. Demonstrate that you want to learn the subject matter despite falling behind by following through on any promises you make.
