Hello and congrats on enrolling into the Job Corps. It is one of if not the best trade schools in the country. The program is self paced so it depends on how quickly you master each skill for the trade and how far you pursue your training in the field. There is no rush while you are enrolled. Also consider the other important things you can earn while attending. You may need a GED or High School Diploma, you may also need a drivers license. Be sure you complete those as well. If there is an advanced level of training for your trade you should consider completing that as well. It may require you to transfer to another Job Corps, but it will be well worth it in the long run. You have the rest of your life to build on your training. Take your time and work hard and avoid negative influences and you will do well. The better your attendance and conduct, the more opportunities you will have to learn and earn more in the long run.

It's fantastic that you want to join the cement trade! There's a Cement Masons Local 527 in St. Louis, which is part of the Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ International Association. Since you are 16, you have a clear path ahead: join the Job Corps now, get construction training, finish high school, turn 18, and then apply for an apprenticeship with Local 527. This leads to a paid apprenticeship and eventually becoming a cement mason, which is a wonderful career. The apprenticeship wage ranges from $26.29 to $39.43 per hour, with a journey-level wage of $43.81 per hour. I hope this helps, and remember, you can gain hands-on experience by working part-time in the field, as long as it fits within the hours allowed by your state. Also it is a great to speak to those who are in the field and you may be able to obtain a mentor or mentors that can offer different paths that will offer you options.
