You can go to any college to get your Bachelor's Degree but only certain colleges have Vet Med programs which is the next step after getting your Bachelor's Degree. Kentucky State University has a DVM (Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine) program. Keep in mind that you first spend 4-5 years getting your Bachelor's degree, then you apply to Vet school which is another 4-5 years of college, so 8-10 years of college total.

To become a veterinarian, you don't have to go to one specific college, but your education will happen in two major stages.

Here is exactly how the path looks:

Stage 1: Undergraduate College (4 Years)
First, you will go to a standard 4-year college or university to earn your Bachelor’s Degree.

What to major in: Most aspiring vets major in Animal Science, Biology, or Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

The Goal: You need to maintain a high GPA and complete mandatory prerequisite classes like chemistry, biology, and physics. You will also need to volunteer or work with animals (at shelters, farms, or vet clinics) to get experience hours.

Stage 2: Veterinary School (4 Years)
After earning your bachelor's degree, you must apply to an accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. This is the actual "vet school" where you learn surgery, animal medicine, and diagnostics.

In the United States, there are currently only about 33 accredited veterinary schools. Some of the top-ranked ones include:

UC Davis (California)

Cornell University (New York)

Colorado State University

North Carolina State University

Ohio State University

Can you do it faster?
Yes! Some universities offer "3+4" accelerated programs. If you get accepted into one of these right out of high school, you can transition directly into their vet school after just 3 years of undergraduate study, saving you a full year of college.

Hi There to become a vet you have to get a bachelors degree in Vetinary Medcine and that is going to take 4 years of that
