Hi Havana,
It’s wonderful that you already have such a clear vision for your future career as an acute care surgeon. Having this clarity at your stage gives you a strong advantage, because you can start building the right foundation early.
As a 7th grader, here are some steps you can take:
1. Focus on science and math. Subjects like biology, chemistry, and math are important for your future in medicine.
2. Develop good study habits. Being organized and disciplined will help you with the long training ahead.
3. Stay curious. Read books, watch videos, or explore articles about medicine and surgery to keep your interest alive.
4. Work on communication skills. Surgeons need to explain things clearly and listen well, so practice expressing yourself.
5. Join activities. Get involved in science clubs, volunteering, or team projects to build teamwork and leadership skills.
Most importantly, keep your passion alive. You don't need to know everything right now. Just keep learning, stay curious, and take small steps toward your big goal.
Your determination is inspiring, and it will help you succeed. My best wishes as you move forward.
