Narbeh’s Answer

Hi Dulce,

You are not the only one who has a hard time remembering things. This is very common and everyone learns on different ways. Something that worked for me was to exercise my brain, I had a lot of routines and I would always stick to them until one day I was speaking to my coach and as we got deeper into the issue, he advised me to mix up my routine everyday. This would force me to think twice during some of my routines. This actually helped my memory and it was much easier for me to remember things.

Richard’s Answer

I used to struggle with this more, especially when I was younger. I realized that I'm a "hands on" and visual learner-meaning I remember better by doing or seeing a process. There are also things you can try do like a making sure your environment is comfortable in temperature, noise, hunger, and many more. I would try a few things and see what work for you.

Best of luck!

Raymond’s Answer

Dulce,

I have a fairly poor short term memory but a very good long term.

Depending on what it is I need to remember I have some things I use

I set reminders in my phone for appointments. Or will write a note in the phone for something important

If it's a person's name, I am terrible with names. So I try to learn something about a person. If I can relate something to you, it's easier to recall their name

If it's an item to learn for a class or test, for me I try to take my mind out of thinking it's some type of requirement. I would read a text book for class like it was just a regular book I was reading for fun. And I would read at my pace. Because it was something I did on my own term, there was none of the internal pressure of feeling as though I had to retain it. That pressure removed, I was actually able to retain more. The human brain is a weird thing and sometimes you need to trick yourself.
