Thaiz’s Answer

Katy, my perception is that finding a job is easily when you have a good networking on the area you are searching to act. I'm not sure about your college option, but I suggest you to learn from people that are already working on the area of your choice how they interact, which are their interests, training that they are doing... this way you can start planning to be inserted on that environment when you conclude the college and people on your network can support you on a career start. Good luck!

Thaiz recommends the following next steps:

Meet people that work in your area of choice, understand their environment
Engage in activities of your interest that are common with theirs to start building your network. Let people know you and your abilities better
Let them know that you are searching for a job opportunity and good luck!

Good question!!

It is not hard to find a job if you like what you do!!

Keep your focus on your objective, prepare yourself for what you want to do and when the opportunity appears it will be yours.

A positive mindset will take you to the success!!

Whitney’s Answer

Hi Katy!

That's a very good question! From my experience, the ease of finding a job after college is dependent upon the field you study and want to pursue. There are fields with higher demand for workers, which have more streamlined processes for hiring new graduates. In these fields, many college students are able to secure employment for post-grad well before they finish their degree. This is something to consider when choosing a field to study, but should not be the determining factor.

If you're passionate about a specific field, you should pursue it! However, if you pursue a field which is generally more difficult to find a job as a new graduate, it's important to attend recruiting events often and become involved in extracurricular activities related to your field. This will increase your chances of being hired right out of college, and may give you the opportunity to choose between several positions!

Best of luck!!
