Mr.’s Answer

Damonte B,

I would suggest you go to learn.org/video_editing_courses_and_programs and look at what they offer. They will help answer what you need to know and show you what offers they have. You should focus on videography, digital post-production, advanced cinematography, film history, and audio production . There is a range of things to learn about the industry from video editing technology to non linear editing . I have listed other courses you should look at before registering. I wish you the best on your journey.

Mr. recommends the following next steps:

Basic shooting and lighting
Basic sound
Basic editing
Intermediate cinematography
Narrative video production

Christopher’s Answer

Hello!

I would look into any nearby trade-school colleges to see if they offer any video editing/ video production classes. I took some video editing classes that really gave me a sense of what to do for someone who wants to start out editing videos on YouTube. The first one taught me the basics of shooting a camera, the different techniques, framing and so on. By the end I was able to figure out how to use a green screen properly.

I wasn't able to purse further classes down this but my professor mentioned he was also the professor of the other classes as well and he mentioned that later down the line students can learn how to animate things, such as intros. He also recommended any photoshop class you take as you can learn how to integrate photoshop into videos. These are skills I really recommend going to a college for and not at a university.
