Hi Nicholas!
That's a beautifully deep question! One that touches both the personal and philosophical. The reasons for getting out of bed can vary widely, but here are a few that resonate:

What Gets People Out of Bed
Purpose: Feeling that your work contributes to something meaningful, whether it's helping a team grow, building something meaningful, or making someone's day better.
Responsibility: Knowing others rely on you (your team, your family, your clients) can be a powerful motivator.
Growth: The chance to learn something new, solve a challenge, or improve a skill, and grow as a more capable person through play, hobbies, and even work.
Routine & Stability: Sometimes, the structure and the predictability of a daily rhythm gives people comfort.
Spontaneity: Opposite of the above, it's nice to have a job that gives you a different challenge every day, or a change to your routine every so often.
Joy in the Little Things: A good audiobook or podcast on the commute, a friendly chat with a coworker, knowing I have financial stability, keeping time for my hobbies and interests.

What People Enjoy About Their Jobs
Passion: If you're able to do a job related to something you're passionate about, it makes every day go much better!
Collaboration: Working with coworkers you enjoy being around toward a shared goal can be rewarding!
Creativity: Finding new ways to solve problems, create something new, help people, improve processes, or inspire a team.
Autonomy: Having the freedom to make decisions and shape your work.
Impact: Seeing the results of your efforts, whether it's a successful week, a happy customer or client, or a product that works well.

As for whatisthemeaningoflife, maybe it's about connection, growth, and leaving things a little better than we found them. Or maybe it's just about finding joy in the journey, one morning at a time. I tend to believe there is no single meaning of life. We all get to create our own meaning every day. I find tremendous freedom in that. Life is not about enjoying every day. That's impossible. There are ups and downs like a rollercoaster, and it's about creating those happy ups where you can, both for yourself, and for others that makes it meaningful to me.

I hope you enjoy waking up to most of your days, Nicholas!

Hi Nicholas,

This is a great question to ask. I personally think it's really important to have a job that can "get you out of bed". You definitely don't have to be miserable in your job or hate what you do. For me, I enjoy my job and the people that I work with so that helps me get out of bed. Knowing I'll be around people that care about me and will make me laugh and that I can easily collaborate with. I also know I'll get fired if I don't get out of bed and go to work so that also helps!

Outside of just work, it's crucial to have fulfilling relationships. This could come from friendships, family, romantic partners, church community, etc. Having plans after work can be just as motivating too. Especially if you are anticipating not having a great day at work. You can look forward to the social plans you have.

I think it's also important to be aware that you're not always going to be motivated to get out of bed. Some days I don't want to get up, and I just lie in bed and stare at the ceiling. Don't push yourself too much or be too hard on yourself because not all days are going to be good.

You have to know yourself first and what your goals in life are. Small or big, long term or short term. Make those goals and dreams a reality by looking at everyday as an opportunity to make them a reality. Law of attraction is real, resilience, determination and drive.
