Gary’s Answer

Hi,
Good question, a systems analyst does different things depending on the company they work for but basically he/she uses analysis and design techniques to solve business problems using information technology. Systems analysts may serve as change agents who identify the organizational improvements needed, design systems to implement those changes, and train and motivate others to use the systems. Part of that was pasted in from another website but this is a very creative and technical job requiring knowledge of computers, business, people and much more. For more information, I found a good website, skilledup dot .com and search for systems analyst. Good luck!

It is actually a very generic designation but I will try to answer it to the best of my knowledge since I work in IT Consulting myself.

1. Help implement Software products for customers , so that they can use them for daily business operations .
2. Write code / programs to develop functionalities for use by companies .. eg... an accounting system or inventory management system
3. Design the business process flow and help translate it to programmers for creation
4. Fix problems and bugs which might appear from time to time during usage of software products or functionality
5. Manage the database systems on which the data is stored
6. Extract , prepare and load the data which systems need to function.
