Kristin’s Answer

Stephen, this is such an awesome question! Being an adult is pretty great because you do have so much control over your own life and destiny - but that part of it is kind of scary too. I think my biggest piece of advice is to learn how to set goals for yourself, prioritize them, set DEADLINES and hold yourself accountable. I LOVE writing checklists in notebooks and then setting calendar reminders on my phone - for example, "Take this online class to learn more about my career path"... deadline reminder 3 weeks from now "Did you take the class? Did you pass?"

Remember that being an adult is challenging but exciting... so start thinking about your goals, big and small, and build yourself a plan to get there!

Kristin recommends the following next steps:

Explore project management best practices - it sounds adult but it really helps! https://hbr.org/2015/02/project-manage-your-life

Joanne’s Answer

Show up. (Most success comes from making a commitment and not giving up, even when it's hard)

Listen to your gut. (Trust yourself. You know yourself better than anyone. If something makes you happy and time stops when you're doing it, then find away to keep doing it more.)

Be kind. (Life is a journey. Help people and treat them with respect. We're all struggling with something. People will remember your kindness.)

Be generous with your talents. (The more you give, the more you get. Volunteer!)

Be bold. (Take risks. Say yes!)

Joanne recommends the following next steps:

Find a group in your community that could use your help and volunteer for an hour.
Make a list of three things you enjoy doing and why
Ask someone older to tell you their story. Listen and ask questions.
Do one thing everyday that scares you.
