How can I resolve a vast disparagement between ability and credentials ?

I hate the game. I’ve never played the game or even conceded recognition of the games rules. Pragmatism over principle, point blank. My storyline in truth I judge as somewhat unremarkable - highs and lows fall short of a headliner spot for this life. I know where I stand among the competition, but where does a person belong?

Not knowing what area of work you want to be in, here's my take on closing the gap between ability and credentials. In general, the most successful people I've seen are the ones who've managed to measure (or judge) themselves against where they are now and where they want to be in the future. They set goals for themselves are based on what they want to accomplish. People I've seen who focus on where they stand compared to others (i.e., pander to the game) often end up on a self-repeating loop of never "making it".

In my experience, the best work experiences have been those where people help hold each other up and not tearing each other down. Those places and careers do exist and yes sometimes they are hard to find. As you find those places, you may find that closing the gap between ability and credentials is easier to do.

Esteban recommends the following next steps:

If you're lacking a credential but think you have the abilities, look for jobs that allow you to practice your skills and ask for time or assistance with obtaining a credential.
