As a dental hygienist, you can work in any dental office, it may be within a hospital, private practice or in a larger dental corporation.

I have worked in a hospital based dental clinic as a dentist and the answer to your question is yes! Hospital dental clinics might be associated with the VA, residency (GPR) training programs, or grant funded clinics that treat specific patients (such as an infectious disease clinic). There are definitely opportunities to practice dental hygiene in these settings. The opportunities might be limited compared to private practice. They also might pay a little less but will likely come with benefits. Hope this helps!
