Kathleen’s Answer

Thats a great dream, good for you for wanting to go to college! College can help you not only get started being comfortable with creating and editing videos, but it can help you create a business out of it.

I would recommend taking communications courses in design and video editing and business courses in marketing. Business courses will help you to gain an idea of how you want to "sell" your channel, monetize, brand and market. Depending on what kind of videos you want to make, you might want to take acting courses or writing courses as well.

Paige’s Answer

Angie, you are smart to commit to a college degree. Careers take many directions over a lifetime and a college education can help you navigate those changes. My business degree in Marketing has served me well throughout my career . Remember that YouTube did not exist a few years ago and by the time you are 30, technology and social media will no doubt be transformed again!

Kathleen’s answer offers great recommendations for specific courses that would benefit you. I would also add that many colleges now offer degree programs in Digital Media , Digital Marketing, Communication & Media Studies, etc. Look around to see what is offered in your area or at colleges that interest you. Also inquire about whether those majors include internships and how the school faculty or career center helps students find internships and jobs after graduation.

Best of luck to you!
