Hi Mikayla,
There are several tier-1 networking companies which you can look to build your career. Companies like Cisco, Juniper etc are well known for their networking prowess and their foray into core routing and switching, IoT, software-defined networking, Virtualisation and so on.
I would strongly recommend you Cisco if you are looking for the tier-1 firm, however, if you wish to work with niche players there are several other firms too.

You can chose any networking company to headstart your career as network architect. It is important that you streamline your path correctly so that you reach your goal. If you know the technology, you will become a good network architect in future. To be more specific, you can chose those companies who have huge customer base which will give you more exposure to variety of networks.

A computer network architect is a person who can advise and model the best efficient network infrastructure in terms operation, scalability, redundancy, robustness in most economical way.
There are many IT companies who provides the network architect solutions to their multiple customers. You can look for the jobs posted by their career website to understand more about the responsibilities of the role. In this role, as you would be providing solutions to multiple customers, you will be having more experience with different type of network architecture. This will enhance your knowledge.
You can be an in house Network Architect for any company. In that case, you will mainly looking at a single big infrastructure for better performance, better optimization of resources and overall great value to the company.
