Hello! I think this is a question with no clear answer, but I hope to provide you with some things to think about if you are considering working in mental health. I used to be a clinical psychologist and used to teach students who were obtaining their maters in addiction counseling. In both fields, I noticed some trends. Sometimes, people with mental health difficulties or past struggles with addiction are the most passionate therapists. They are very motivated to help others and may empathize more with what their clients are experiencing. On the other hand, there is a risk of making one's own difficulties worse due to constant interaction with stress and the painful experiences of others. Additionally, health issues might interfere with one's ability to complete the requirements to become a therapist. I would recommend working with a therapist of your own to explore whether a career in mental health would be a good fit for you. Best of luck.
