Looking to expand my contract income opportunities
I'm an audio engineer looking to pick up other contract-based work. I'm looking for something that would not require additional college classes, as I am still paying off my current student loans. I was considering an independent insurance adjuster, but I am open to similar fields that have minimal barriers to entry-level positions. $500 for a license is okay, $10,000 for one year tuition not so much.

Hey, Brian! I'm originally from Pittsburgh too! Are you trying to get more gigs as an audio engineer or looking to pick up a side-career?

You might consider becoming a state licensed real estate Agent, working as a 1099 for a Broker. In this role, depending on the Broker commission structure you could earn up to 99% of the 3% commission fee associated with either Listing or Selling a property. My deal in Houston for example allows me to keep 100% of the 3% commission and then I pay the Broker $125 to approve/action the transaction. I pay the Broker $120 a year ($10) a month to be on the team. Sell or List a couple homes a year and you're making an extra $20K to $35K. Nice gig!
