Hi. With all due respect, your asking the wrong question. The goal should not be to get in the business "faster." Faster is not the way. Also, your question is very broad. You need to narrow it down. The "Music Industry" is a huge field with many different jobs/roles. Decide which you want to do and find a mentor who is doing what you want to do. Work with him or her. Don't do it for the money - it may not come right away, if ever (if you're dreaming of "big bucks"). What is your main talent? Are you musically gifted? Or do you see musical talent in others and like to build them up? You need to get a little more clarity. And then, go for it! All the best.

Megan’s Answer

Hi!
I think the best way to get in to any industry is to get as involved as possible wherever you decide to go to school. In your case, pick a school that has a lot of opportunity around it (i.e. clubs, internships, programs, etc). Things like that will allow you to network and meet more people so when the time comes to look for an internship and hopefully a full time job, you'll have background and a network of people that can help you! These things take time, but, if it's something you're passionate about then you will enjoy the journey to get there

Megan recommends the following next steps:

Get involved on campus
Be strategic about where you go to school
Ask the right questions about the school's music program
