Uncertainty!!! Covid-19

If is hard to plan ahead when you are going through a pandemic. I am applying to colleges, applying for scholarships, and operating as if things are normal but they are not. So many uncertainties and unknowns make it more difficult to be planned, should I continue as if I am going to college and there is no pandemic or should I hold off on a wait and see basis? #motivation

Britni’s Answer

Hi,
You should continue as planned, the world isn’t going to stop. Even if you don’t attend the school as in living on campus or commuting it will still be online. You just might have change things as you go along!

Catherine’s Answer

Hi,
You should definitely continue with your applications. The more options you have, the better. No one knows at this point when this is going to end. I know a number of people that have started virtual classes this fall. Some colleges have really adapted well and are using new tools to ensure that everyone is actively participating. So please keep going and keep an open mind. Things might be different from how they were for a while but that doesn't mean that you will not receive the instruction that you need.

Duane’s Answer

Daniel, In these crazy times of uncertainty you are just in questioning how to pursue the next phase of your life. However, I agree with the sentiments provided by Cindy and Bri. Don't wait, control the things that you can control and seek acceptance to the college (or colleges) you wish to attend. Once acceptance is granted, the institution will guide you through the pandemic provisions established to ensure the safety of the students and faculty. Beyond this, equip yourself with knowledge to protect yourself and your family. Follow the experts advice and exhibit safe behavior (physical distancing, personal hygiene practices, etc.) while leveraging personal protective equipment that is available. Most of all stay positive and keep thriving! Good luck with college submissions and into the future!

Duane recommends the following next steps:

Write down goals you wish to achieve, make them challenging but obtainable.
Post these goals in a visible place where they are seen often.
Reflect on them and let them motivate/inspire you to achieve success.
Thank you comment icon Duane thank you so much for your answer and tips on next steps. I truly appreciate your time and support. Daniel

Cindy’s Answer

Acknowledge that there is a pandemic going on and that while the format (remote learning), may not be your ideal it's still an option. DO NOT lose momentum to WAIT AND SEE. Unfortunately this is not going to be over by August, or September or likely not even this year so don't hold off on your education because of it. As a Business Continuity Professional I can tell you that nothing ever works out the way you plan so you have to give yourself every advantage you can so that when the unexpected comes you can rise to the occasion. Who knows, maybe without the distractions of having to physically go somewhere will help improve your learning! Good luck. Don't give up!
Thank you comment icon Cindy thank you so much for the response and especially the words of encouragement. I appreciate the support. Daniel
