What should I study in order to prepare for the MCAT exam?

I would like to take the test required for entering medical school, therefore I would like some suggestions on sources for studying for it. #doctor #graduate-school #medical-school #test

Hi
Once you apply for the MCAT it comes with STUDY guidelines.
If you can afford it there are some great review courses.
I regret not taking them since I scored very high on my major (chemistry) but average in the others.
I still got into medical school but I think my GPA, my recommendations and my extracurricular volunteer work helped me more than my MCAT.
Best wishes!

Hi there, there are alot of different ways to approach MCAT studying. First off, consider what timeline you need/want to be able to study. Can/will you need to study while also taking other classes or working? What will that timeline look like. Do you know when you want to apply to medical schools? You need to know when applicaitons/MCAT scores are due for your specific application cycle and make sure you prepare for/pick an MCAT date that will meet that time line and have your scores back in time. I would also really consider that you may want/need to take it more than once to improve your score so if you can make space in the timeline for that too just in case. In general study wise every one is different. Some people are better studying alone, some people in groups, some people like lectures/courses in person, and some people like stuff virtually. There are alot of formalized MCAT prep courses online/in person to. Look into their timelines/costs/what type of material they give/offer, do they offer/have practice questions/tests available. Compare what their rates of success were for prior students who took those courses.
I found the Kaplan review excellent however this was many years ago! Look into multiple certified prep tests and see which course fits your personal study and time needs! There’s many options for prep courses!

Richard’s Answer

Devote an entire summer to studying for the MCAT and consider paying for a prep course if you can afford it.

My son used this set from Amazon and it was about $140:

I recommend the Princeton Review MCAT prep course. It tells you exactly what you need to know and provides many practice exams to test your knowledge.
