Hi Tim,
As with any career, you should check out the average salary by region. The reason being that insurance companies provide reimbursement based on geography among other things. A family physician in NY, NY for example will require a much larger salary/reimbursement from insurance in order to cover their costs as opposed to the middle of rural Kansas.
Check out salary.com- they have options for plugging in additional variables. This is an important step because the salary range will be huge.
