Generally speaking history is not a requirement of law school, however the things you learn in a history class can help you with your career choice.
1. History is a story of people, lawyers listen and deal with stories all the time and history teaches you how to interpret that story - especially if you remember #2
2. History is generally written by the winner, which tends to make it very one sided, and while that is changing, it is still one sided. Most people you deal with as a lawyer only want to tell their side, but every story has two sides.... at least.
3. History, English, anthropology, sociology - all study stories, people, and what happened - if you study them you learn to glean the information you need form the tales.
4. I firmly believe that a great many pre law students end up majoring in History and English due to the writing element, these studies require manipulating a given set of details to tell the story you want them to tell, a handy skill for a lawyer.

So in short no you do not have to study history, but it helps.

I know a great many people who studied varying subjects in order to go to law school, so the short answer tend to be no. However, I suggest history, English, literature, anthropology, sociology etc... I do this because you need to learn to read and write about what other people have told you. History is the study of people and that is an important basis for a lawyer. You have to remember that history is written by the winner, as in it is often one sided and there is more information to be found, also important for a lawyer.
