What are the requirements in becoming a facility maintenance engineer?

I am a sophomore student. I am taking the course aviation and right now I am taking the concepts of engineering and I don't know if I should be taking this classes to become a facility maintenance engineer. Also when I go to college, what am I going to take and what things do I need? #engineering #career-planning #facility #maintenance

A facilities maintenance engineer needs a broad range of systems knowledge. Courses or training in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, General Construction are helpful. There are also several Facilities organizations that you might want to check out (http://www.ifma.org/, https://www.redvector.com, www.boma.org), that can provide information on various disciplines that lead up to being a facilities manager (a worthwhile next step from a facilities maintenance engineer that you might also want to look at in your career planning). In addition to the more functional, system based education, strong fundamentals in math and business administration will be important, so consider them in your education planning.

knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, lubrication, mechanical precision and machine adjustment, pneumatic and other strong basic skills; good machinery maintenance; proficient in AUTOCAD and OFFICE software, familiar with ISO-9001-2000 quality management system model; having working experience of large factory engineering maintenance department and the ability of cross functional team at the same time, have a certain engineering budget and construction machinery and equipment audit experience; have good project management skills; be able to read English technical documents; independent analysis of the ability to deal with problems, good team spirit.
