Entry level programmers in the US can start from 50K to 65K in most areas, 65K to 75K in the Bay Area, Seattle and NYC, but the cost of living is exponentially higher. Usually you are in this role for several years before you can show that you are ready to lead people.

Managers start in the high 80s and move into low 100s depending on your area.

After a 5-7 years, you can be in the 130s-180s depending on your area.

This is totally depends on what company what location what role what skillsets you are dealing with.
I know some managers makes <100K , some makes >500K yearly.
You get paid for what you are capable of and the employer capable to provide .
Facebook Apple Amazon Netflix Google are one of the top payers.

How much you're paid is based on a number of factors. What company do you work for, what area of the country the company is located, are you a new manager or have a lot of experience are all factors in determining pay. Typical starting salaries are 100,000 and up; there is no top amount. A lot of managers come from within the engineering groups of a company and then an individual decides they would like to go into management. My suggestion, if you're interested in being a manager, is to find someone who is a manager that can mentor you. You can also notify your current manager that you're interested and they can assist in developing an action plan to help you.
