Personally, I think the advantage of musicians is that you can put all your personal thoughts, opinions.....into a song, and you will gain a great sense of accomplishment when you finish composing. But the disadvantage is that you may encounter a creative bottleneck from time to time, you will be frustrated because you don't have any IDEAS for your new songs.

A composer writes original music on instruments or computer programs that will be performed by bands,orchestras, or other musical groups.
An arranger takes music that has already been written by a composer and interprets it in a new way.
