Hello! I am in 8th grade, and the career I am pursuing is to be a professional singer and musician. The reason I’m interested in this field is that I’ve always loved music, and I am currently active in my school choir. I have learned how to play the cello, viola, piano, and guitar because I love the unique sound and style of each instrument. My dream is to eventually record my own original songs in a professional studio, specifically in the indie rock genre. What are the first steps I should take at my age to begin this journey? In your experience, what is the most effective way for a young musician to build a following while still developing their technical skills?

I'm 17 and a high school senior. I hate being asked what my goals are and where I see myself in the future because I rarely ever think deeply about it. So, it's a real problem when I want to do something like apply for a scholarship and have to write an essay about it. Am I supposed to know exactly what I want to do? My interests: I'm currently going on a business career pathway, though I've never been entirely sure why. I can't figure out why I'm drawn to business. I'm also really into making music, specifically instrumental composition and production. I also have experience editing videos through my YouTube channel where I've made many video mashups for fun.
