Does band and arts give you an advantage for college, even if music isn't your major or minor?

Next year, I'm in the 9th grade and I would like to major in either Pre-Med or Biology. I also take band and I'm in the marching band and planning to take it for the next 4 years. I'm wondering if that factor will give me an edge on my college application and if it will benefit me later. Thanks!

I have to take fine arts at my school, but which should I choose if I want to be a doctor? Does it matter at all?

My school has a fine arts requirement to graduate. I would like to become a doctor and am not very interested in art. What genre of classes are best for my situation? My school offers choir, band, orchestra, theatre arts, visual arts, dance, technical theatre, and art history at various levels and subgenres. Does it even matter that much and should I choose any of them? This is high school, by the way!

How Do We Take Pictures Of Our Band That Look Professional?

How would we go about taking pictures of our band, we want something professional that we can post to our social media accounts to get more interaction out of our audience, we don't know wether we should pay a photographer to take pictures of us, or if its something our buddies could do with their iPhone. We just need more engaging pictures, and something to show places we want to get gigs at.

How do I find a local singer for my band?

I've put together a band recently that is going to be very 80s rock music, the only issue is that we can't find a singer, we have everything else we need. We just can't seem to find that guy or girl if you get what I'm trying to say. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone had any advice as to how I should go about my search to find the frontman or woman.

How do I quit band when I'm in middle school?

I have tried sending an email to my band director, yet he seems not to want to even after I stated in the email that I do not want to take band anymore because it has become something I really don't enjoy as much as I did when I first joined. Should I email our principal? I'm really not sure.

should i quit band?

So i just joined band this august and i’m in color guard. now i absolutely love twirling my flag and being in the field and hearing that crowd in that huge football stadium we have at my school, but i hate everything else. i just got told i can’t perform at the game tomorrow or at competition on saturday simply because i missed tuesday’s one practice. i’ve never missed a practice before. ever. yet many of the other girls who are being allowed to perform have missed plenty, were late to the ones they did come to, are never prepared , and they’re still performing. favoritism is one thing that thrives in my band. i work hard for sure, practice any chance i get, show up to all practices, i missed one because i had surgery and they’re telling me i can’t perform. i know the routine and everything, they’re just using me as an example for all the other kids who wanna continue to miss practice. but that’s extremely unfair because it’s the only one i’ve missed. the seniors definitely do favoritism because my captain will have us standing at attention but then start talking to some of her senior friends who don’t have senority and are first years, allowing them to not be at attention . plus because of band, my grades are dropping tremendously. i was always an a , b, student, now i have two ds, two cs, and the rest are bs. my goal is to get into columbia university and i thought being in band would look great on my application but i won’t get in if i don’t have the grades. honestly, what should i do?? #highschool #marchingband #band #colorguard #quitting #shouldi #quit #columbia

I'm in 8th Grade and my parents are making me go to Early College High School, which does not have a band. I really enjoy band and I really don't want to give it up, but I'd like to have the benefits of going to ECHS. Any advice on making a decision? (P.S. I know somebody who goes there and I only hear horror stories from them. )

Which is a better profession to pursue: marching band or computer science?

I've been around computers all my life and I love working with them. However, it seems like it could be a lot of work and not much fun to do as a job. Marching band/music seems really fun, but I don't think it'd be worth it money-wise and I won't be able to do it my entire life unless I go into educating music. #music #band #technology #computers

How can you save money when your future depends on you spending it?

I love music and I plan to become a band director and in order to get accepted into a good music school I need to stay in the band program at my school. To be in the program it costs $1250 each year and $1000 to join a winter program. I love this program but I just don't know if I can afford it anymore. What are the benefits and disadvantages of being in a band?

I'm interested in being in a rock band, but when you're in a band you have to work as a team, instead of competing, what is it like. I'm senior in high school in the Bronx. This is something I want to be part time because I want to be an entrepreneur. I've been in a band before, and I play guitar. #music #arts #entertainment #band
