What is the best way to ensure a good salary as a future teacher?
I am a college student studying secondary education (language arts). I know that most teachers do not make the best salary, and I was looking for advice on what I can do to make that salary higher. I know that most schools pay more for teachers with a higher education level. Should I choose to pursue more than a bachelors degree in order to increase my possible salary? Should I try and study other subject areas? Should I look into become a club leader or a sports coach? Or something else entirely?
Are there advancement opportunities available for teachers who love their job and students but also want something more financially sustainable long term? #Spring26
My goal has always been to become a teacher and work with students but much of the advice I have received says that it is not wise for a long term career. This is something that I am willing to do anyway because it is a passion of mine but I do wonder if there are or will be any advancement opportunities for current and future teachers. Thank-you. #Spring26
What advice do you have for disabled students on obtaining a degree?
I am a disabled and neurodivergent freshman in college. I've been struggling to complete my assignments on time due to my disabilities. I am wondering what advice the community here may have on navigating academics while managing health issues. My current long-term career interest is to be a community college professor in either English or studio art. That seems like such a long path, though, as I am currently only able to attend part time. Thank you for any guidance you may have.

How do you effectively balance discipline with an engaging and enjoyable learning environment?
I am currently a High School Senior looking for a degree in music education. I am very excited to help guide the new generation! I love babysitting my neighbors and work as a camp counselor, however, I find that it is hard to find a balance between having fun and being disciplined. If I play too much into the fun, they get out of control and then refuse to listen to me. But if I am too harsh on them they end up not having any fun at all. I want to know how current teachers find this balance?
any advice for this?
I'm really interested in pursuing a degree in education because I've wanted to be a teacher for all of my life. I'm worried about how I would manage to make a living though since they really aren't paid well, overworked, etc. (Especially in my state considering it's the lowest paid for teachers) Any ideas of what I should do? I'm wondering if I should just back out and go for something else, but this is the only thing I've wanted to do so... I'm really unsure.
How do I decide on what career to pursue between teaching and law?
#Spring26 All my life I've been conflicted between teaching and law, and now I'm at an impasse. I know that becoming a lawyer will pay much more in the long run, but with how much law school would cost, I'm not exactly sure if betting on the fact that I will stick with law is smart, because if I change careers, then I would end up with all of that debt for no reason. On the other hand, teaching won't give me that much money, but it's been something I've been at least interested in since I was a young kid. I know that the current teaching climate isn't the best, but I'm still inclined to try. I've also talked with a teacher I'm close with at my current high school (it feels appropriate here to say that I'm a senior in high school, going to college for an English Lit degree) who said that if I do go through with teaching, it would be easy to get a job at my highschool to gain experience right after getting my degree, and that they would give me a 5 year window to get my teaching certificate while teaching. She also told me of a current teacher who was a student just like me, who was able to get all of the certifications immediately, so I'm not concerned about that. I would be an English teacher, or maybe a government teacher, or both. Could anyone please help weigh the pros and cons? #Spring26

why don't teachers like teaching anymore/ leaving teaching ?
I am 16 and plan on becoming a teacher but I'm having second thoughts. I always wanted to become a teacher and I didn't really care about the pay yeah its not the best but If I like the job then that's all that matters but everywhere I go I see negative things about teaching and people saying that they regret becoming a teacher. so if you are a teacher please be honest tell me if its as bad as they say it is and disprove it because I am out of options and I wouldn't know what else to do.
