Is it possible to peruse two majors?
I’ve always wanted to go to school for medical assisting but also have always wanted to go for cosmetology. I’ve always found interest in medical especially like front and back office, as well as in hair, nails and makeup.

Absolutely. It won't be easy. But I feel that it you want it bad enough you will make it happen. You may want to consider focusing on one degree first and use the employment to help pay for the other if your financial situation requires it.

I have a degree in business administration, pharmacy, and emergency services. I did it all kind of at one time while working full time in the pharmacy. It wasn’t easy but I did it. All while going through a divorce and getting remarried.

Yes. Many people double major. I double majored in General Education and Human Services. I did so because general education gave me the educational foundation to transfer on to a specific field of study at almost any college or university. At the time I was unsure what I wanted my career to be long term. At that moment, I did know that I wanted to work in assisting people in some capacity so I chose human services as it goes hand in hand with social work.
Associate degrees as well as certificates are offered in both medical assisting and cosmetology. The first step would be deciding which one you want to pursue more or which career you think you will stay in longer professionally. You could major in one area and have the other focus be your minor. For example, you could major in medical assisting and go for an associate degree, while minoring in cosmetology and gaining a certificate in this program, or vice versa.
I think that the career choices that you have picked are smart and go hand in hand. Many medical assistants now work in settings such as medical or day spas, so additional training in cosmetology could be extremely helpful. Many med-spas offer services such as skin care and massage. People often think of cosmetology as just making yourself look good but alot of the procedures have a medical background or basis. Botox is one of the most common today. Med spas that provide these services usually always have some sort of healthcare professional on staff. So even if they are referred to as a salon or spa you may still work under a medical doctor, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or registered or licensed nurse. There are a broad range of careers that combine beauty and wellness. I would also look into newer career fields such as Medical Esthetician.
