Hey, Kaylin! 👋

That's a great question and always a good thing to consider when making your career choices, especially considering the cost of the education requirements for veterinarians.

As Fred mentioned, the salary range for any job can vary widely depending on location due to cost of living differences, demand for that position in the area, and many more factors. We both live in North Carolina, so I can tell you that we are in a lower-paying area but that our expenses are also lower, so it typically evens out. Even just relocating to a larger city near you will likely greatly increase your salary projections!

According to zippia.com, the salary range for veterinarians in Thomasville is $59,000-$162,000 and the average salary is about $98,000. Don't be frightened by that lower range! Veterinarians can work in many different areas of the animal field and certain options, such as animal shelters, won't pay nearly as much due to limited funding but are still taken into consideration for this range. If you have any interest in relocating, Zippia also says that the highest-paying city near Thomasville is Summerfield.

Best of luck on your path to joining the veterinary field! 💜

The answer will vary wildly depending on where you practice, if you are a small animal vs. large animal vet, etc.

Glassdoor is a good website for researching salaries and companies. Try searching around on that site (there may be others, too, this is simply the one I use). If I recall right, you can limit it to geographic areas.
