What are the steps one needs to take in order to become a pediatric nurse? Internships? Classes?

I am a Senior in high school and I want to be a pediatric nurse because I love children. I have worked at a camp around children. I have volunteered at a camp with all girls. I have interned at a school in the third grade class. Is there anything else I could do? If these aren't good things to practice for being a pediatric nurse, what is? Please help! #nursing #health #pediatrics #working-with-children

Dear Karen- You are going to be so prepared! That is great! The camp was a great idea and working in schools is very nice. At our hospital we have a program for teens to volunteer at the hospital to get some experience with all of the different areas-- in the lab, on the nursing floors. While this experience is not pediatric specific, I think that can help some people see what it's like to be a nurse in the hospital vs. a nurse in a clinic or school. You might check with hospitals and pediatricians offices near you to see if they have any volunteer programs. You are really on the right track to prepare yourself for your dream job. I wish you the best of luck!!
