How many types of lawyer exist?

How many types of lawyer exist? And what are the best law school to attend, another question I got is can u make a living out of art? And how do I know that this is really what I want?

Gertrude: There are an endless number of fields for lawyers to go into. Several TV people are lawyers; agents for sports figures; criminal, civil lawyers, Constitutional lawyers. Alex has laid out the list! At this point yopu need to look into your own heart and see what feels right to you. Sometimes it's a hit and miss thing. You want to be a criminal defense lawyer and hate it!!! So you switch. No big deal. Trenton has a ton of opportunity. Go explore. See what feels right. Take your time. Law is like ice cream - some times you have to try a few flavors before you find the one you like! Good luck!

What an excellent question ! So you are probably familiar with some of the segments or specialties some lawyers practice in but I would like to name some. There are many niches in the field of law and all lawyers are the same, all must go to law school and get their law degree, so all lawyers get the same education for the most part. There is one type of lawyer but several areas that lawyers work or specialize in. I will name some of the many types of law that is practiced : Animal Law, Admiralty Law (cases that take place on a body of water also known as Maritime Law), Bankruptcy, Banking and Finance, Civil Rights Law (which has a lot of subcategories), Constitutional Law, Corporate Law, Criminal Law, Education Law, Entertainment Law, Employment Law, Environmental and Natural Resources Law, Family Law, Health Law, Immigration Law, International Law, Intellectual Property Law, Military Law, Personal Injury Law, Real Estate Law, and Tax Law.

Your next question has to do with what are the best law schools. The best law schools in the United States are Yale, Harvard, Colombia University, University of Pennsylvania and Cornell. I would also include Berkeley and Stanford in California. These schools are quite expensive and you can always find a good school that fits your budget.

As for a career in the filed of art, yes, many people are making a wonderful, gratifying living by working in the art world.

To know if your interests are really what you want, read a lot about them and try to shadow someone who is working in those fields. Let yourself be around your career interests and the more experience you have observing and participating eventually you will know and feel that it is right for you. You are the only one who can say when your decision will happen and eventually you will be able to decide.

Hi Gertrude! The world of law has a bunch of different specializations, each dealing with its own unique set of legal stuff. You've got criminal defense lawyers who handle criminal cases, personal injury lawyers who assist those injured due to negligence, family lawyers sorting out things like divorces and child custody matters and corporate lawyers dealing with business-related stuff. Other types include real estate lawyers, immigration lawyers, environmental lawyers, intellectual property lawyers, bankruptcy lawyers, healthcare lawyers, entertainment lawyers, estate planning lawyers, tax lawyers, and civil rights lawyers. Lots of people and organization need representation and specialized attorneys offer their expertise in their respective fields, providing legal guidance for a diverse array of legal issues. I’m not speaking from experience, but I believe that the best law school for you is one that has connections in the specialty that you want to pursue. I also don’t think that the name of the school you attend will 100% determine your job prospects - it's more about the connections you make at that school.

To answer your other question - absolutely, you can definitely make a living from your art! There are quite a few ways to do it: you can sell your creations through galleries, online platforms, or even get commissioned work; some artists also freelance as illustrators or designers. Teaching art classes or licensing your art for products like apparel or home decor is another option. Plus, there's public art, exhibitions, and even art consulting or curation. While it might come with challenges, like income fluctuations, many artists find success by staying creative, exploring different avenues, and connecting with others who love their work.

How do you know what you really want? Sometimes you don’t until you do it and then assess! And you can always change your mind, nothing is set in stone.
