How do I make sure that the field I want to go into is a good field?

I want to go into neuroscience research. I want to make sure that this is a good field to go into and that it will continue to be one.

The first step is knowing if you are interested in the topic. There are tons of blogs and other easily available content that discusses current research so you can decide if you are actually interested in it. For example: http://www.sciencemag.org

You can go a step further to solidify your interest by reaching out to local researchers and requesting to volunteer in their lab. This way you can get an idea of what it means to do that research on a day to day basis.

To do so, approach your local institutions (academic research institutions) and look for opportunities for internship in a neuroscience research laboratory. This will help you understand what being a neuroscience researcher entails.
