Arielle’s Answer

Animation is very competitive because there are many talented animators. If you want to aim high get a degree specifically in animation. Make sure to also broaden your talent and draw different types of animation so your versatile. I think that's how you can be different than other animators because sometimes they have certain ways of drawing. Good luck to you.

Practice other animation techniques and styles
Thank you comment icon The field is not yet saturated, however, as you would expect, there is always competition for average applicants.....outstanding applicants are always in demand since they ad value to the companies that hire them. So one will need an awesome show reel, stellar transcript and exceptional portfolio. Robert Fromme

Roger’s Answer

If there were a pecking order, animator-designers have the best opportunity to pick and choose the opportunities that best suit their interests. Animators who are tech geniuses are probably next in line with designers who don't have animation skills right behind them. Either way, what the world needs most is an individual who can create a variety of visual solutions and then animate them on as many systems/software bases as possible. Hone your talents and sharpen your skills.
