Asking Questions on CareerVillage.org

Need help posting a question? Do not fear! Here are some guidelines and examples.

What to ask about:

CareerVillage is a place for you to get answers to your career questions. Many questions can be career questions with the right context. If you have a question relevant to your education, career, personal development, or planning for your future success – ask it!

What to keep in mind when posting a question:

  1. Start simple: Your title section should be a one-sentence question that starts with words like “who,” “how,” “when,” “where,” why,” etc. You will have a chance to elaborate more in the section below.
  2. Give details about yourself: In the body of the question, you should include information such as your grade, level of experience with the topic you’re asking about, and why you are interested. Volunteers can give stronger advice when they know more about you and why you’re asking the question. Check out these great examples:
  1. Use relevant tags: selecting tags is important because tags help match you to professionals who are experts on these topics. Try and pick tags that have lots of followers to increase your chances of more professionals seeing it.
  2. Ask one question at a time: Questions are free — you can ask as many as you want! Plus, when you ask tons of questions at once, professionals are too focused on answering all of them instead of giving in-depth responses.
  3. Say thank you: Show your appreciation and thank Professionals for answering your question!
