This spring marked the second year HP partnered with CareerVillage as part of its company-wide “40 Days of Doing Good“ volunteer campaign (April 1–May 10, 2026). This year’s campaign focused on empowering future workers by expanding access to technology, skills, and economic opportunities in disconnected communities, and HP’s volunteers showed up in a big way.
The campaign is a reflection of what HP genuinely believes: that its employees have knowledge worth sharing, and that giving back can mean giving your expertise. Partnering with CareerVillage, HP has found a way to turn that belief into something tangible: career guidance, delivered at scale, to young people who need it most.
40 Days of Doing Good: How it came together
This year’s campaign offered HP volunteers more ways to engage than ever before: four Advice-a-thons spanning three time zones, two New Coach volunteer opportunities, engagement from top HP leaders, and record-breaking impact.
The campaign kicked off in person at HP’s Houston office with HP’s interim CEO and other senior leaders inviting employees to answer career questions, setting the tone for an inspiring 40 days that followed! By the end of 40 days, the results spoke for themselves:
- 400+ new HP volunteers registered on CareerVillage.org
- 1,000+ pieces of advice posted by HP volunteers
- 122,000+ reads on that advice…and counting
That last number is the one that matters most. Every read represents a young person, who may not have access to a professional network, mentor, or career guidance, finding an answer they needed.
Partnerships work best when they make it easy for people to show up in a meaningful way. Our collaboration with CareerVillage gives HP employees a simple, high-impact way to share real-world insight with learners who may not always have access to career guidance, helping build workforce-ready skills for the future of work. Every answer a volunteer writes can unlock clarity, confidence, and a next step for someone exploring their future.
Getting as many volunteers involved as possible: The Advice-a-thons
Alongside the Coach opportunities, CareerVillage and HP hosted four Advice-a-thons: three spanning different time zones to maximize participation across HP’s global workforce, plus a dedicated session for the HP Corporate Affairs team. Employees from all backgrounds were able to make a difference, including the most senior leaders at HP.
On what HP looks for in future leaders

Karen’s Answer
When we look at future leaders in Finance, we value character and integrity above all else… trust is essential and we want leaders who operate with transparency, sound judgment, and a strong ethical foundation.
Volunteers answered real career questions from students on CareerVillage.org, with a twist of friendly competition: HP Business Unit affiliations within the CareerVillage leaderboard allowed teams to track their advice totals against one another and rally their colleagues throughout the campaign.

The flexibility of volunteering on CareerVillage made it possible for so many HP employees from all different backgrounds to come together and make a collective impact. As one HP volunteer, Travis Upchurch told us, “I like how easy it is to volunteer when time permits! Everyone has at least 15 minutes a week to answer at least one question.”
The dedication of thoughtful volunteers is what will have the lasting impact. The energy was real, and the Advice-a-thons were a blast!
With CareerVillage’s support, the HP Foundation offered a wide range of volunteer opportunities for 40 Days of Doing Good, our annual global volunteer campaign… Employees were able to engage in ways that aligned with their interests and availability, while helping prepare the next generation for the future of work. We truly value this partnership and the meaningful impact we’re able to create together.
Trying something new: Coach volunteer events
This year, CareerVillage and HP set out to offer a dynamic array of volunteer opportunities. The 40 Days of Doing Good campaign was a perfect opportunity to introduce volunteers to Coach, CareerVillage’s AI-powered career coaching tool. Two Coach volunteer opportunities were designed, each with a dedicated info session so volunteers could learn what to expect before getting started.
Testing & Feedback invited HP employees to try Coach firsthand and provide structured feedback on specific platform features identified by CareerVillage’s product team. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes contribution that most volunteers don’t think of as “volunteering”, but directly improves the experience for thousands of learners.
Sharing Coach with Students gave volunteers a way to bring Coach into relationships they already had (with student groups, mentees, or young people in their communities). CareerVillage created a “Share Coach with Students” toolkit to guide volunteers through their first session, with prompting suggestions and reflection questions to help students get the most out of the experience.
Amplifying impact: Voices from HP Leadership
To extend the campaign’s reach even further, senior HP executives answered leadership and career questions directly on CareerVillage.org, putting their expertise in front of the millions of learners who visit the platform each year. Their responses are the kind of direct, specific guidance that young people rarely get access to.

Three senior HP leaders respond to common career questions on CareerVillage.
These responses didn’t live in a one-time event; they live on CareerVillage.org, continuing to reach learners long after the campaign ended.
We are so grateful for HP’s support and the incredible impact they’ve made through volunteerism.
