Yes, Chad, animals can absolutely live with a human who is away from other people—but both will experience some interesting psychological effects!

For the animal:

Stronger bond – The pet will likely form a deep attachment to its human, possibly to the point of separation anxiety. You become their entire world (no pressure).

Altered social behavior – If it's a dog, it might get overly protective or struggle with other people later. If it's a cat… well, it probably won’t care as long as food is involved.

Communication skills – Pets often adapt to human habits, learning facial expressions, routines, and even "talking" cues (some dogs and birds get eerily good at this).

For the human:

Improved mental health – Science backs this up! Pets reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and provide emotional support.

Changes in behavior – You might start talking to your pet like they’re your roommate (and honestly, they might be better company than most humans).

Possible isolation effects – If you go too long without human interaction, social skills can get a little… rusty. You might start greeting strangers like your pet ("Hey, buddy! Who’s a good boy?"). Man that would be embarassing or who knows maybe normal over time like my humor🤣😂.

Overall? It’s totally okay! Humans and animals have coexisted for thousands of years, and as long as both get enough enrichment (walks, playtime, occasional socialization), it's a perfectly healthy and rewarding lifestyle. Just don’t be surprised if one day you realize you’re meowing back at your cat.🙂
