How can I do it? ?
I’ve always wanted to pursue zoology, but my parents insist on pushing me towards becoming a doctor instead. They’ve discouraged me my whole life, and now I’m filled with doubt and frustration. I feel like they won’t ever support the path I truly want to take, and that makes me question if I can even succeed. I’m constantly battling negative thoughts, wondering if I’ll fail if I follow my passion. On top of that, I’m considering a career in the military, which only adds to the confusion. I want to prove to my parents that I can achieve something meaningful, but I feel stuck between their expectations and my own desires. I’ve always connected better with animals than with people, but I fear I might never get the chance to follow this dream.
.What if I choose zoology, but it doesn’t work out? What if I let down my parents who only want what's "best" for me, even though they don’t understand my true passion? I fear that pursuing what I love might only lead to disappointment and failure. And with my parents constantly pushing me toward a medical career, it feels like I’m trapped between living up to their expectations and risking everything for a future I’m not sure I can have. Can I really succeed in a field I’m passionate about, or is it just an impossible dream?

Bright summed up your struggle well: pressure, doubt, fear of failure. But let’s flip that script—you’re not trapped, you’re just at a crossroads. And guess what? Crossroads mean options.
Let’s Tackle the Big Fears because I know you Want to an shoe this helps out.
"What if I choose zoology and it doesn’t work out?"
What if it does work out? You don’t see lions second-guessing if they should be hunting. You feel the pull toward animals? That’s instinct, not a mistake.
Plus, careers evolve. A zoology degree doesn’t lock you into one thing. Conservation, research, education, eco-tourism, even government jobs—it's a whole jungle of opportunities.
"What if I let down my parents?"
Alright Parents love security. Medicine screams "stable job." Zoology, to them, might scream "unemployed biologist living in the woods." Your mission? Show them the success stories.
Find people making good money in wildlife conservation, animal behavior, or environmental science. Parents respect results.
"What if I fail?"
Bro, failure is part of every success story. Ever seen a baby giraffe try to walk? Total disaster at first. But guess what? It keeps going. You will too.
Once again,
If structure, adventure, and purpose appeal to you, some branches of the military have careers in K9 units, environmental science, and even wildlife conservation roles (yep, that’s a thing). So if you’re drawn to both, maybe there’s a way to merge them.
Prove It To Yourself First
Shadow a zoologist.
Volunteer at an animal shelter, sanctuary, or wildlife rehab.
Take an online course in zoology or animal behavior.
Show your parents you’re serious by researching career paths, salaries, and success stories.
This isn’t about proving them wrong. It’s about proving yourself right. And if zoology is where your heart is? Go for it. The world needs more people who actually care about animals. Good luck out there!
