How to impress employers when you don't have much experience?
I am a recent Digital Marketing graduate looking for my first job in Content. However, I have noticed that many job postings require experience, while I only have a few personal projects and short-term internships block blast.
I would like to ask everyone:
How can I impress employers when my CV does not have much work experience?
Is there a better way to demonstrate my skills than listing them on my CV?
What are the things employers really look for in a fresh graduate?
I look forward to receiving advice from you guys and those who have experience! Thank you everyone in advance!
Thanks,

Man congrats on graduating, that's a huge achievement! Now, Landing your first job in content without much experience can feel tricky, but trust me, you have more to offer than you think.
Employers know fresh grads won't have long work histories, so what they're really looking for is potential, passion, and proof of your skills. Here’s how you can wow them:
Make your personal projects shine — Treat those projects like actual client work. Create a portfolio website or a simple Google Drive folder showcasing blog posts, social media campaigns, or any content you've created. Add a short description of the project, your process, and the results (even if they're small!).
Quantify everything — Did your Instagram project boost engagement by 20%? Did a blog post you wrote get more views than others? Numbers make your work feel more tangible.
Build your online presence — Start posting your own content on LinkedIn or Medium about digital marketing topics. It shows you're serious about the field and helps you network naturally.
Learn in public — Share what you're learning in digital marketing through social media or a blog. Employers love to see curiosity and growth.
Leverage recommendations — Ask internship supervisors or professors for LinkedIn recommendations to back up your skills.
Confidence in your cover letter — Use your cover letter to tell your story: Why you're passionate about content, what you've learned from your personal projects, and how you're ready to hit the ground running.
You've got everything it takes — now it's just about showing the world what you're made of. Keep creating, keep learning, and your first job offer is closer than you think!
Wishing you all the success, Floyd!

It’s completely normal to feel a bit unsure when starting out, especially when job postings seem to ask for experience you haven’t had the chance to build yet. But here’s the good news: you absolutely can impress employers without a long CV — and many companies have hired fresh grads based on passion, and creativity.
Here are a few ideas to help you stand out:
Build a Portfolio
Instead of just listing skills, show them. Create a simple online portfolio (even a Google Drive folder or Notion page works!) with examples of your writing, campaigns, mock-ups, or social media content. Employers love seeing what you can do, not just what you say you can do.
Tell Your Story
Use your cover letter and interviews to share your passion for content. Why do you love it? What inspires you? What have you learned from your internships or side projects? Enthusiasm and curiosity go a long way.
Network and Ask for Feedback
Reach out to professionals on LinkedIn, join marketing communities, and ask for advice or mentorship. Sometimes opportunities come from conversations, not job boards.
Highlight Transferable Skills
Even short-term internships or unrelated jobs teach valuable skills — communication, time management, creativity, adaptability. Frame them in a way that connects to the role you want.
Employers hiring grads often look for:
A willingness to learn
A proactive attitude
Clear communication
A genuine interest in the field
You’ve already taken a great step by asking for advice — that shows initiative and openness. Keep going, keep creating, and keep applying. You’ve got this!
