As with the comments within this platform, after submitting one's response - you can ask AI to rewrite or revamp your own words. I think that can be a plus for many reasons:

a) Help you think about a different way to word your thoughts.
b) Extra guidance in word usage. AI may integrate different verbiage that could enhance your own vocabulary.
c) A new format and/or style to deepen your insights to showcase to others.

Plusses as long as your integrity continues and honest that you utilized AI as a bonus to your thoughts not a replacement for them.

Yes! Would highly recommend using GenAI to help prep for an interview. You can prompt it to say " I am interviewing at X company for Y position. Provide me with 20 questions I should expect in an interview." You can then prep against those questions, submit the answers into GenAI and ask it to evaluate against the answers.

Absolutely, I'd agree that it's highly beneficial. While utilizing AI to fabricate a false narrative about oneself wouldn't be ethical or advisable. Early in my career (pre AI) I found it challenging as a first-generation college student to grasp corporate culture's language styles. In this context, using AI as a tool to assist in crafting messaging about one's experiences or responses during the interview process could be quite helpful.

From a corporate recruiter standpoint- yes! Certainly use AI to HELP and GUIDE you to write your resume. However, there are red flags and it can be easily identified when a candidate is using AI and copying and pasting for a resume or cover letter. I suggest using AI as a resource to help you get started or unstuck. Write your story in your own words or your highlight past experiences in your own voice. One of the most important things is to make sure you have keywords from the job description incorporated into your documents. I hope this helps!

Hi,

AI is a great resource as a starting point for preparing for interviews. You may not know what kinds of questions are important in a particular field. In that way, AI is a great resource. The challenge is that AI is not a one-time event. In order to get the details worked out, there should be investment in searches around various elements. Questions are important by industry but also by job role. Responses to interview questions probably vary in the same way. The biggest challenge with the resume creation is simple - the voice of the resume should ultimately be yours whenever possible. When you are customizing your resume to the job description, you have to remember the words that you use naturally versus what the company who is hiring uses. In my field, I use terminology of Instructional Design. It can be shortened to designer, which can be confusing since designer is everything from interior designer to graphic designer - which I am not. My role can also be called Curriculum developer, Instructional developer, Curriculum designer - even some companies use technical writers or videographers which are skills I have as an instructional designer. You need to understand the variety of ways your skills and talents may be defined by various companies.

It's something I'd certainly consider as part of your prep process, but a final resume should be your own work, not machine-generated. Many companies and institutions either have direct policies again AI-generated material or will at least think poorly of you for using it. Often, AI tools end up responding in quite a predictable formulaic manner, and for certain things it can be relatively easy to notice when something is AI-generated if you know what you're looking for, so I wouldn't recommend using AI output directly.

However, using AI content in other more nuanced ways can be quite useful, and is much more acceptable. This can include using AI-content for ideas which you then rewrite in your own words and based on your own experience; or using AI to check your work and suggest corrections or improvements. For interview prep, using a conversation with an AI chatbot might also be helpful to practice the types of question you might get asked and to get ideas for giving better answers.
