As an upcoming climatologist, can marine science, a major I have grown to love, work into my desired field #Spring25?

Basically, I have dreamed of being a climatologist since middle school and that dream was crushed when I got rejected at GA Tech and UGA for Earth and Atmospheric Science. However, I transferred to Savannah State and became fond of my major of marine science due to learning about the ocean and marine organisms. Since I did not lose my passion for climatology, I wonder if there is a way I use the knowledge I learned for climatology.

Don't worry, keep pushing ahead. I was an Earth/Atmospheric Science major at Purdue and then did Climatology at NIU. Loved it, however the hard truth is is that there are not a ton of jobs in that field, most are in academia if you choose to do that. Other places are state climatology offices, or small private consulting firms and unfortunately they are not super high paying. Money isn't everything but it pays for everything. I would say never lose your passion, but also remain realistic too with the times we are in. If you need a job, and it is in a different field/industry make sure you jump on it and from there you can keep looking for your dream job. Could be a blessing you were rejected from your two schools, perhaps you'll find an amazing job in the Marine industry!
